2. CONDITIONS OF ACCESS TO THE SERVICE
2.1 Access to the Service is subject to the user's registration to the Service via the form available on the registration page (link), accessible directly or from one of the BnF online services. The user undertakes to enter true, up-to-date, and complete information on the registration form.
2.2 Checking the box to accept the general terms of use on the Service registration form, or actual use of the Service, constitutes unconditional acceptance by the user with these general terms of use.
2.3 the BnF may modify These general terms of use at any time without notice and without requesting renewed acceptance. The user is subject to the version of the terms displayed on the day of use of the Service. The user is therefore invited to regularly review any updates.
3. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
3.1 The entire Service, as a database, is protected under intellectual property law.
3.2 The names "Bibliothèque nationale de France", "BnF" and "Gallica" and their associated logos are protected trademarks registered with the INPI.

4.1 Registration data, and more generally any personal information collected when using the Service, are processed in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 78-17 of January 6, 1978 on data processing, files, and freedoms. These data may come from the BnF readers' file in which the user's personal data were previously recorded with their consent.
4.2 The user has the right to access, rectify, and delete personal data concerning them. To exercise your rights, contact the Bibliothèque nationale de France, Service de coordination Internet, quai François Mauriac, 75706 Paris Cedex 13, or by email at webmaster@bnf.fr.
4.3 The personal data communicated by the user are intended for the BnF and will not be disclosed to third parties, except where required by law.
4.4 The BnF reserves the right to delete accounts that users have not accessed for more than one year, as well as all data contained therein.
4.5 To avoid the user having to enter their data on the Service at each visit and to better understand their browsing, the BnF places a cookie on their computer that stores information entered during the visit and records browsing information (pages viewed, date and time of consultation, etc.). The retention period of this information on the user's computer is determined by the user in their browser settings.
The user can object to the storage of cookies by configuring their browser as follows:
The user's attention is drawn, however, to the fact that certain personalized services require the user to accept cookies. If the browser is set to refuse them, access to these services may be impaired or even impossible.
5. LIABILITY
5.1 For reasons of maintenance or improvement of the Service, the BnF may modify or temporarily or permanently interrupt all or part of the Service, without notice or compensation. The BnF cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect damage caused to the user arising from the use or inability to use the Service, particularly due to a disruption or interruption of the Service.
5.2 The user undertakes to use their username and password strictly personally. They are fully and solely responsible for the confidentiality of their username and password and for all operations and actions that may be carried out by them or a third party under their username and/or with their password. They undertake to immediately inform the BnF of any unauthorized use of their username and/or password, and of any breach of the Service's security. They must ensure that they log out at the end of each session. The BnF cannot be held liable for any damage occurring in the event of non-compliance with the obligations of this paragraph.
5.3 The content of websites outside the BnF to which the Service may refer does not engage the responsibility of the BnF.
6. APPLICABLE LAW AND COMPETENT COURTS
6.1 These general terms of use and the relationship between the BnF and the users of the Service are governed by French law.
6.2 Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be brought before the competent courts of Paris.
